Burglary suspect escapes

A man escaped from custody while being escorted from the Beltrami County Jail to an appointment at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center at 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Department, Jason King, 21, of Redby, Minn. evaded the corrections officer in a foot chase that went east and north from the hospital campus. The manhunt was still underway as of Tuesday night. King was arrested Dec. 30 while attempting to flee from police in connection with an armed robbery at Newby’s Market in Northern Township. — Bemidji Pioneer
